Year of the Horse June Spotlight: Confidence & Consistency

Meet Gooig Cove, better known around the barn as “Spud,” our June Year of the Horse winner! This 13-year-old dapple grey Connemara gelding has done it all. Imported from Ireland, Spud has experience in everything from fox hunting and eventing to the hunter/jumper ring, where he and his owner, Ella Lucas, now focus their time together.

Ella describes Spud as the kind of horse everyone dreams of on his best days—confident, consistent, and trustworthy. But like many talented horses, he has a playful side, too, such as unexpected bucking in the warm-up ring and him taking charge on the gallop track. .
